Why hello there!
I know I’ve been MIA for months now. But I hope we can put that fact aside and start afresh. Speaking of starting afresh, it’s that time again… The new year! 2016 is going to be one of the most stressful years of my life. My last year of school, deciding what I want to do at uni, getting my license and a whole lot of independence… I’m not going to lie here, thinking about all of those things makes me feel a little sick. That’s why I think it’s so important to set goals and the new year is an obvious time to set them. So here’s my suggestions on how to set yourself up for success in 2016.
An obvious but underestimated recommendation is to write down your goals. Once something is written down, it allows you to physically see your plan but the goal also becomes more of a reality rather than a dream in your head.
The second suggestion I have is to focus on one goal at a time. A tip for completing this step is to give your goals a rating of importance. Think of what will be easy to achieve and what will take longer. Complete the goals which are easier first so you get the hang of what it takes to actually complete them. Then it will be easier to complete your harder ones.
Revisiting your resolutions from the new year is one of the most important things to do. Have your goals somewhere you can see them for the whole year. Write down dates in your diary every couple of months to go back to your goal planning and evaluate progress.

In Winter and all other seasons for that matter, it is important to have a variety of pieces that are going to keep you toasty warm, shield you from the wind and cold and add interest to a minimal Winter outfit. Here are the eight pieces I go to again & again.
Sweaters (try for 1 basic & 1 a little bit fancy)
Sweaters are always a must-have as they are a versatile item that can be a light cover up or a snuggly layer or the top of your outfit. These are also versatile in that you can purchase really basic sweaters or sweaters that are a little fancier.
Khaki jacket These jackets were super in last Winter but I still wear this H&M one often. It’s got a thick layer of wool on the inside and is super toasty.
I’ve just bought a longline puffer from Witchery to take to Europe in September and it’s so gorgeous. A little pricey, but beautiful and gives your body such a great silhouette with the belt and panelling. Super warm as well.
I used to hate denim jackets with a passion but they’ve grown on me. This one, believe it or not, is from Coles and is biker style… Who woulda thought?
This is such an essential item for every wardrobe. My leather jacket is one of the most versatile items I own. Easy to dress up with a little black dress and heels or with jeans and a teeshirt to go shopping in. Love.
Faux fur vest
This piece never fails to make me feel a bit sassy. It keeps you a lot warmer then you would think.
A kimono also keeps you warmer then you would have first thought, espcially a heavier one like this one . Gorgeous cover up and a boho touch for any outfit.
I wear my Forever21 and H&M cardigans more than anything in my wardrobe. Even though it has short sleeves, it’s thick and warm and is quite unique as far as cardi’s go.

So lately, I’ve found myself missing warm weather. I know it gets a lot colder in other places around the world but Brisbane has been so cold in the last few days. Although I find Brisbane winters manageable as the majority of the time there is lots of sunshine to warm you up. This doesn’t change the fact that I miss the warm weather and I’ve found that a really good way to bring back the feeling is getting your pins out from under the denim and giving them a good shave/ wax/ laser/ other hair removal technique and a nice gradual tan. Aka put on them shorts. But there are a few rules to follow if you don’t want to freeze. The first is to throw on your chunky turtleneck knit. The second is to chuck a trench on top that will provide a little extra warmth. Third is to opt for ankle boots and these snakeskin ones bring some interest to a basic outfit colour-palette wise. And the fourth is to bring some colour in my favourite way: with some bright blue reflector shades. And of course, to finish it all off, you need some beautiful delicate jewellery and a black carry-all…… preferably Givenchy.

My skin is probably one of the things I worry most about myself. Since I was about thirteen, I’ve had minor acne, at some points in time, even worse then what you would probably call ‘minor’. I’ve pretty much taken care of the main issues now with a mixture of antibiotics and other treatments and I still get little breakouts but overall, my skin is a lot better than it has been in the last four years, aside for the small marks I have left over. And over the years, I’ve realised that I have learned some fairly valuable skincare tips and tricks that have helped me in keeping my skin as clear as it can be. First of all and probably something you’ve heard one thousand times is to eat well and drink plenty of water. These are two things I strive to do a lot because I know how my skin gets when I don’t at least try to eat some greens or drink a few litres of water in a day. I can really notice the difference when I drink gallons of water and eat well for a few days. My skin is positively glowing and looks and feels healthy, like my insides would be. Thanks mumma for constantly nagging me about these kinds of things. What would I do without you? The second thing I’ve learned, especially over the last few months is the importance of moisturising. I used to only ever moisturise when my skin felt dry because I honestly thought that was what it was for… Which it is but it’s more than that. I find now that I moisturise my skin everyday, twice a day my skin gets heaps less oily and hardly ever gets dry. It completely balances out my skin! The third and final tip I have for you is to wear makeup as little as you can. On weekends when I stay home to do assignments and study (which is most weekends btw), I don’t wear any makeup and when it gets to Monday, I find my skin is less congested then if I’ve been out and worn makeup. When I do go out, I try to wear a really nourishing BB cream or tinted moisturiser to minimise the blocking of pores and making my skin red and congested like a full-coverage foundation would do. I swear that if you strive to do these three things to some degree in your life, you will see the improvement in your skin, even if you don’t have acne. You’ll be glowing like nobodies business.
